Oklahoma City 250 Mile Midget Race 1950
|
This 250 Mile Race in Oklahoma City in 1950 was a real treat for the Barton-Clow photography team as they had been limited to night time races and this was a big thrill to be able to cover a race without carrrying flash bulbs in their pockets. This was the only time they got to cover a 250 mile race and to be able to get a good view of the drivers in action was a added treat. You will note that there were no firesuits and the drivers looked like they were out on a Sunday afternoon drive. Jimmy Reece was driving in a sport shirt and he was something else to see with that big smile as he was moving on.
