On the left is Jack Penwell in midget # 19. On the right is "Chick" Gicaletto in midget #19 Jr.
Both drivers went on to race Stocks in the Tulsa area. "Chick" was a Tulsa motorcycle policeman and had made a name for himself racing motors before he tried the midgets and stocks. "Chick" ran the infield operation for Dick Colvin Auto Racing Enterprises,Inc. from '62 to '68.

In the center photo Jack Penwell gets a trophy from Tulsa promoter Cameron Cline. Cox-Cline promoted the races in Tulsa for a number of years. Cox was known for his Plymouth-Dodge dealership at 11th and Lewis in Tulsa.
Ervin Wolfe took over the Tulsa Fairgrounds track in 1950 and introduced stock car racing to the Tulsa fans. Ervin bragged about owning most of the cars, 13 in fact. He was known for his "Indy" race cars.

Pictured on the left is Tommy Vardeman, a Tulsa driver. Tommy joined the locals later in stock car racing.

Pictured on the right is Bill Schindler. If our memory serves us right ,Bill only had one leg. He was not a local driver. Not certain that Bill raced inTulsa more than this one time.

Mac McHenry in his car 20 showed up regulerly for the Tulsa races. Mac was not from Tulsa.

On the right Mac is waiting for the photographer to get finished so he can get his kiss for winning the trophy dash.
