Danley Clow 1944
Danley is pictured here on the right with Gene Barton at the Tulsa Airport in about 1944. The camera that Danley is holding was given to him by his grandfather Bill Clow. His grandfather and grandmother met in a park while making pictures. Believe it or not, Danley first made pictures using glass film and he only had the one film holder given to him by his grandfather. His photography buddies at Will Rogers High School went together to buy him a film holder for cut film. He processed his film in the closet at first. One of his great shots of a car wreck was ruined when he placed the glass film before the fireplace to dry. Yep, the emulsion all ran to the bottom and that was lesson one on drying glass film fast. The camera was a 5X7 portrait camera and Danley passed it on to his only son, Gary Wayne Clow.
Dick Colvin promoted the Tulsa races at the Fairgrounds for five years starting in 1962.The photo below is of Colvin's Staff and Danley Clow is in the front row ,left side “© 2008 Danley Clow”.
